Why Indosat and GoTo's AI Model Will Transform Indonesia’s Tech Landscape
The Launch of Sahabat-AI: A Game-Changer for Indonesia's AI Landscape
Indonesia’s leading telecommunications company Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison and its biggest tech giant GoTo Gojek Tokopedia have teamed up to introduce the groundbreaking AI model ecosystem named Sahabat-AI, tailored for local languages. This AI system aims to revolutionize how Indonesians interact with artificial intelligence by making it more accessible and applicable to local needs.
Empowering Local AI Innovation
With Sahabat-AI, Indonesians can now create AI-powered services and applications in Bahasa Indonesia and other regional languages. The goal is to build AI solutions that are not only linguistically relevant but also culturally and contextually sensitive to the local audience.
Backed by AI Singapore and India’s Tech Mahindra, Sahabat-AI leverages Nvidia’s AI Enterprise software and Nvidia NeMo to train the model, enhancing its understanding of languages and making it ready for a broad range of applications.
Collaborations to Optimize AI for Indonesia
The development of this large language model is a collaborative effort involving several universities and media groups to ensure that the AI understands and adapts to local culture and context. The Sahabat-AI model will initially launch with 8-billion and 9-billion parameter language models, offering robust AI capabilities right from the start.
The Growing AI Industry in Indonesia
Indonesia’s AI industry has been attracting considerable attention, with global giants like Microsoft pledging to build data centers in the country. The launch of Sahabat-AI signifies a significant step toward making Indonesia a hub for AI innovation in Southeast Asia.
